The Shipping Clerk coordinates and organizes all outbound shipments to customers while providing the highest level of customer service in the most cost-effective manner.
- Administrative responsibilities such as updating reports, making copies, filing, etc.
- Gather/organize/prepare orders for shipping and distribute orders to staff as per the shipping requirements.
- Coordinate with carriers to ensure that delivery standards are met.
- Arrange for carriers to pick up and dispatch in a timely fashion.
- Record all outbound shipments by date.
- Monitor all shipping orders and address any issues such as shortages, late arrivals, etc.
- Obtain dispositions from Customer Care Account Managers and advise them of the shipping appointments when granted.
- Investigate/report on any non-compliance issues.
- Assign inbound orders from buyers/purchasers to optimum carriers.
- Audit all freight bills to ensure that the correct freight rates have been applied and then forward to the accounting department.
- Complete Advanced Shipment Notice (ASN) reports in which the customer is notified that the shipment has been sent.
- Assist other departments and perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2–3 years of relevant experience; or post-secondary education with 1–2 years of relevant experience.
- RD Scanner experience required.
- Experience using ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Counterbalance Forklift and Pallet Truck certification is considered an asset.
- Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) designation is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced shipping and logistics environment.
